Philosophy of Education

All students can learn and all students need to learn. Education provides equitable opportunities for students to become well-rounded and well-informed future change-makers in their community and society. Educators should not only teach tangible skills through a culturally relevant pedagogy, but also teach students to know, validate, and celebrate who they are. Teachers are responsible for creating a learning environment that supports all students and their diverse backgrounds, assets, and learning needs. Through education, students will learn how to overcome obstacles, meet high expectations, think critically and deeply, and transfer their knowledge, not only cross-disciplinary but to the real world.
