As an educator, my mission is to value the whole student. I recognize that every student enters the classroom with different assets and needs, diverse cultures and backgrounds, and values. As a teacher, I will create a classroom environment that promotes learning and success for every single one of my students through equitable learning activities, tools, scaffolds, and resources. I will make room for questions and mistakes, as those lead to progress and learning. As I teach the whole student, I will focus on not only academic achievement, but personal integrity, moral character, social emotional development, cultural sensitivity, and a sense of responsibility. Students should leave my classroom feeling valued, seen, and prepared for the next grade, college, and their career.
